What is life?

Basis characteristics of living organism

Following basic characteristics of living organisms distinguish them from non-living. These are the basic 19 characters of living organisms

1. Individuality:

Every organism exists as a single unit and has its own individuality. It can't be separated into completely different components for its survival.

2. Form and size:

Every organism incorporates a definite form and size. A non-living object will have any form.

3. Chemical organization:

Organisms are created from chemical elements in definite proportion chiefly carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur and phosphor along with alternative components.

4. Protoplasm:

It's the foremost important a part of all living organisms. Living substance could be a viscous fluid that fills the cell and could be complicated of diverse chemical compounds. All the very important activities of the cell occur within the living substance. Hence, Huxley known as it the physical basis of life.

5. Cellular organization:

The bodies of all living organisms are composed of structural and purposeful units known as cells. Numerous organelles of the cell do variety of co-ordinated functions. Cells from tissues, organs and organ systems within the body.

6. Metabolism:

A living organism could be a self- maintaining system and to sustain life it needs energy. Energy comes through the varied chemical reactions along are called metabolism. Metabolism includes 2 forms of reaction-anabolism and biological process. Anabolism could be an artificial part which ends up within the formation of complicated substances from the less complicated ones, example chemical change. Catabolism is the method of breakdown during which complicated substances are broken into less complicated ones and during this method, the P.E. hold on throughout anabolic part is a free, example- respiration.

7. Nutrition:

Organisms want energy for all their very important activity. It's obtained from the food that is made in energy. The method of getting food from the atmosphere is thought as nutrition. Nutrition includes activity, digestion, absorption, assimilation, and elimination of undigested food material.

8. Growth:

Growth signifies increase in the variety of organisms and increase in their mass. All living organism has capability of growth. Previous and wiped out components are replaces throughout growth and repair.

9. Movement:

Animals will move from one place to a different. They'll additionally move their body organs. Associate organism moves by energy made among its body.

10. Respiration:

For energy production respiration happens all told organisms. It involves oxidization or combustion of the food stuffs.

11. Excretion:

Throughout metabolic activities within the body, as a result of biological combustion useless and harmful byproducts are shaped. They are generally toxic in nature and thence can't be preserved. Elimination of those waste product are called excretion.

12. Irritability or responsiveness:

Changes within the atmosphere bring forth modification in the steady state of organism. Living organisms can react against these changes.

13. Adaptability:

Organism adjusts itself according to its atmosphere. This ability or characteristic of adjustment is called ability.

14. Secretion:

Looking on the necessity, helpful substances will be freed from glands in organisms. The secretions are required for various functions within the body. Such secretions aren, 't found in non-living substances.

15. Reproduction:

Each organism produces new members of its own sort, as its offspring. By reproduction the organism continues its race from one generation to a different. The following generation is analogous to folks in most of its characters. This results from amphibious. In some organisms the method is viviparous involving strategies like reproductive structure formation, fragmention, etc.

16. Lifecycle:

Every organism incorporates a definite life and completely different stages in life occur in an exceedingly cyclic manner like egg, embryo or young stage, adult stage and ultimately death. Such associate organized life cycle does not occur in living substances.

17. Disease:

Generally organism could develop an illness, and it's the capability to heal or to cure such an illness. Slowly its body regains its vigor of its own.

18. Organic evolution:

Living organisms slowly bear changes because of variations and variations. One species therefore changes into other species and such changes occurs of its own. Such changes don, 't occur in non-living substances.

19. Death:

Slowly each living organism becomes weak, and its life activities prevent. Once a specific period of its life, the organism ultimately dies. Such natural death doesn, 't occur in non-living substances.

Conclusion-

Considering the pattern or organization, living organisms can be defined as self replicating, evolving and self regulative interactive system that reply to external stimuli. This is the basic characteristics of living organisms. We learnt about the 19 characters of living organisms

Stem

The study of varied external options of the plants is understood as a plant morphology.  The angiosperm is characterized by presence of roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits.  These are the most characteristics of angiosperms.  The stem is the ascending part of the axis bearing branches, leaves, flower and fruits.  It develops from the down feather of the embryo of a germinating seed.  The stem bears nodes and internodes.  The regions of the stem wherever leaves are born are known as nodes, whereas, internodes are the parts between 2 nodes.  The main operate of the stem is spreading out branches, bearing leaves, flowers, and fruits.  Modification of stem  1. Rhizome-  Rhizome are non-inexperienced with distinct nodes and internodes.  These are brown in color.  Example- Ginger  2. Bulb- The bulb might tunicated.  A sheath of dry membranes scale leaves protected the chordate bulb.  Example- Oni...
