Zoos and zoological parks

Welcome to my bio teacher, here you can get knowledge about different biology topics and can note on various biology chapters. It is an open source of knowledge where you can clear your all doubts related to the biology. The notes are designed very carefully according to the exams which are easily understood.

Zoological parks and Zoos

Zoological parks are the guarded areas where animals are provided with conditions as they were living in their natural habitats. The parks also help to know about wild animals , their behavior and food habits. The Zoological parks and zoos have also some scientific purpose. They breed the animals which are facing a threat in their natural habitat or about to becone extinct.

In National Parks, Sanctuaries, Zoological Parks and Biospheres reserves wild life can flourish in its natural surroundings. There parks and reserves are the areas in which all commercial exploitation is prohibited and their flora and fauna are well protected.

There are two main categories of conservation. These are 'in-situ conservation' and 'ex-situ conservation'. 'In-situ conservation' is the protection of wild life in their natural habitat. Such protected areas are known as National Parks, Sanctuaries, Natural reserves, Biosphere reserves, etc. On the other hand when wilflife is allowed to develop under protection in areas other than natural habitats, such as zoological parks, botanical gardens, etc. It is called ex situ conservation.

Traditionally the places where wild animals are kept in captivity are called zoos. The concept of zoo has been replaced by zoological parks over the years. Living animals are kept in a zoological park for exhibition and study purpose. Here animals livr under more natural condutions and high standard of care is observed. Zoological parks provide better recreation to the visitors, and also form a safe breeding place for rare animals.

Significance of Zoological Parks

The need of the hour is not only to maintain the existing wild reserves but to bring more areas under such reserves and to protect them. The environmental degradation due to urbanization and industrialization has resulted in elimination of wild life. Zoological parks provide such wild life with appropriate food and shelter.

Zoological parks, wild life sanctuaries, National Parks are valuable wild life reserves which ate helpful in restoring the degraded ecosystem and in the rehabilitation of the threatened species.

Some important Zoological parks and Zoo of India are-

-Arignar Anna Zoological Park (Vandalur Zoo)-Tamil Nadu( Biggest zoological park in India)

-Nandankanan Zoological Park - Odisha(2nd biggest zoological park in India)

-Indore Zoo- Madhya Pradesh (3rd biggest zoological park in India)

Stem

The study of varied external options of the plants is understood as a plant morphology.  The angiosperm is characterized by presence of roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits.  These are the most characteristics of angiosperms.  The stem is the ascending part of the axis bearing branches, leaves, flower and fruits.  It develops from the down feather of the embryo of a germinating seed.  The stem bears nodes and internodes.  The regions of the stem wherever leaves are born are known as nodes, whereas, internodes are the parts between 2 nodes.  The main operate of the stem is spreading out branches, bearing leaves, flowers, and fruits.  Modification of stem  1.
